Media careers are all about
voicing ones opinion CMAC Discussion Forum gives an
early opportunity to do so. The forum is a platform for debate
and discussion, for expressing students' views on current and
socially relevant issues. It aims to keep the students updated
on issues and to provide students with an opportunity to
practice in the skills of making presentation, public speaking
and confidence building. The forum started with in-house faculty
and other staff-members sitting in and giving students feedback
on both content and presentation. The topics of discussions
were:
1. Media hype and the prince case
2. The war inside - the internal problems of India.
3. Gender equality.
As the discussion forum gained momentum the college has started
calling one guest, an expert on the topic, to listen to the
students presentations and then conclude the topic with a
lecture on the same issue to enhance their knowledge.
On September 26, the topic of discussion was " Pesticides
in food and toys" the guest invited was Mr. Suparno
Banerjee, Head of the Media Resource Centre, Centre For Science
and Environment. He attended the discussion forum and was
appreciated the quality of the presentations made by the
students. He concluded the topic and then answered the queries
of the students related to the cola Cola-pesticide issue and
CSE's role in it.
