Media regulation is much
hated and coveted term but, working for regulated media is
actually tightrope walk, says Rajiv Kumar a veteran in TV news
programming. He's part of all the minor and major developments
across the globe through DD cameras, newsrooms for more than two
decades. He says that the U.S. and U.K. have regulations than
how can we negate the relevance and importance of the
regulations.
The media is getting faster and technologically better by every
passing second. This has exposed our kids, teenagers to
violence, pornography, crime, etc. Thus we need regulations to
ensure the healthy mental state of our populace. During the 9/11
crisis the U.S. media was united on the issue of not showing any
bloodshed to people in general. It simply shows how regulations
work there. In India, every time we talk about regulation,
voices come as if regulations are to gag media. But media has
its moral and ethical responsibility so it requires regulations.
