Industry
Interaction :
Students interact with media industry in three unique ways-
First is "How to Become Me" lecture series
where students get the opportunity to meet media stalwarts.
Second is "Colloquium" where students meet mid
carrier media personalities and third are "Alumni Café"
where students on weekly basis interact with fresh entrants
of media industry.
- How to Become Me
- Aspirations of youth are achievements of greats: CMAC
endeavors to put both face to face through a lecture series
"How to Become Me." This series hosts stalwarts of
the media world, who give Gyan & Guidance to our
students. The achievers of the media world, the big names,
the people who have carved their own niche, are well known,
well recognized and are living dreams of Gen- X tell how
they become what they are. This series answers what was the
journey like, what adversities did they brave, was this what
they wanted to become, and many more insights.
- Colloquium -
is a platform where CMAC students meet media personalities
from leading media houses. The Media luminaries share their
experiences and acquaint the students with the challenges
lying ahead in the industry. The series provides CMAC
students with glimpses of real processes, problems and
challenges of the media world. We believe that during the
studies, students weave their dreams and 'CMAC Colloquium'
gives strands of reality to their dreams. CMAC students
share a common platform with media bigwigs from leading
media houses. CMAC students discuss, enquire, expand their
knowledge base, and become aware of the latest developments
in media world and otherwise.
- Alumni Café
- CMAC is an ever-increasing family of students, teachers,
parents, etc. Every year some students move in this family
and some move out to join the marketplace as CMAC
ambassadors. Every member of this community is special. All
CMAC students develop their own story of success and
achievements while they carve a unique niche in the
industry. Every week alumni student shares his or her
experiences as a fresher in this dynamic and glamorous
industry. Besides struggle, they also discuss the current
trends and career prospects of the industry.
Campus Newspapers :
- CMAC Journal - The purpose of journal is
to give students hands on experience of all the stages of
media publication. The exercise takes place under the
guidance of senior faculty. At the same time, it creates a
platform for advertising students to create and place
advertisements and carry out campaigns in the journal.
- Ad Buzz - Advertising students bring out "Ad
Buzz" a paper that keeps the campus informed of the
latest news from media world, new product launches, latest
national and international advertising campaigns and agency
news. Both the journals have a student editor and provide an
opportunity to students to hone their writing, editing and
layout skills.
News Bulletin :
- News Edge - Our students from journalism
stream produce and present TV program, "News Edge."
This TV program is more of a multi disciplinary endeavor.
Student teams are involved in all stages of production from
conceptualization to implementation. This helps our students
hone the most relevant and hands on expertise to producing
and managing a TV program all on their own.
Documentaries :
- Zarina : A film by CMAC students was
awarded "The Best Student Film," and "Best
Audience Voted Film," in "Jeevika 04," a

Teaching & Learning Methodology |
|
In keeping with the
philosophy of student centered learning, the teaching
methodology at College of Media and Communication (CMAC)
emphasizes the importance of learning through direct experience.
This helps promote the development of independent learning and
transferable skills in our students. A combination of teacher-
supervised and teacher-independent learning activities at
individual and group levels are integrated into the scheme of
learning and teaching. Our Students are optimally involved in
assessment of his/her own progress through a measure of faculty
and peer feedback.
Assignment work is the cornerstone of our student led learning.
From conceiving, planning, and researching an activity that is
aligned with curricular outcomes, to implementing and reflecting
on actual experiences-students employ a vast range of creative
tools. All this serves to expand along with their knowledge
base, their range of communicative and managerial skills. Fields
studies, data gathering, laboratory activity, case studies,
work-based assignments, seminars, presentations, group
discussions- all form part of a student's independent learning
process.
Learning Outcomes, in teaching parlance, refers to the skills
that a student must attain while working in a particular
context. These may address the aims of a single unit or more.
Where units are closely, linked, integrated assignments are
worked out to aid mutual unit development. In order to 'achieve'
a unit or more, it is imperative that all its learning outcomes
are met and the process of meeting those is recorded.
All these methods of learning help our students gain the best
of skills and aptitudes to work in a competitive environment of
Media Industry.

For the overall development
of students, we imbibe in students Life Skills like Dedication,
Commitment, Hard Work, Reliability, Sincerity, Team Spirit, and
Transparency. We also conduct industry perspective building
classes, and encourage students to learn a foreign language. It
is mandatory for students to organize and attend internal events
with media and other industry partners. This adds to their
skills and increases their chance for placements.
Classes in Personal Communication are not only about verbal but
also nonverbal communication like mannerism, style, dressing up,
social interaction, voice modulation, etc. Business and
corporate communication courses include business writing,
knowledge of diverse industries, presentation skill reporting,
and analysis. Surveys of CEOs and HR Managers emphasize the
importance of Life Skills as being the top-most parameter for
employability. So CMAC provides this great opportunity to every
student to imbibe capabilities that can help make there dreams
come true with appropriate Life Skills. |
